Yesterday, MEAPP took an important step forward with the launch of its Education & Standards Working Group, bringing together professionals passionate about strengthening Pharmaceutical Medicine education, competencies, and professional development across our region.

The webinar opened with an insightful keynote by Dr Assem el Baghdady, MD, FFPM, FRCP, MEAPP President and Founder, who highlighted why Pharmaceutical Medicine matters now more than ever, the opportunities emerging across clinical research, medicine development, and Medical Affairs, and the critical role of education and capacity building in closing the regional standards gap.
A special thank you to Dr Nouran Omar, PhD Omar El Said, Chair of the Education & Standards Working Group, and her dedicated team for their visionary work in shaping this initiative. The presentation outlined an ambitious roadmap built around six specialised tracks:
🔹 Clinical Research & Therapeutics
🔹 Regulatory Science
🔹 Pharmacometrics
🔹 Health Technology Assessment (HTA) & Pharmacoeconomics
🔹 Medical Affairs
🔹 Pharmacovigilance
This is more than a series of webinars. It is a vision for a connected learning community where professionals can learn, connect, apply their knowledge, and lead change. By aligning educational pathways with international standards while addressing regional needs, we aim to help develop the expertise our region needs to participate in and shape the future of medicine development.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their perspectives, and contributed to the discussion. Your input will help shape our priorities and the learning opportunities ahead.
We ended with a timeless African proverb that perfectly captures the spirit of this initiative:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
The journey has begun. Let’s go together!
