It was a pleasure to join a high-level meeting that strengthens the bridge between Egypt and the UK in higher education and research.

The meeting brought together H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with Dr. Assem El Baghdady, President of MEAPP and Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, and Prof. Stuart Jones, Director of the Centre for Pharmaceutical Medicine Research (CPMR) at King’s College London

Held in the presence of Prof. Ebada Sarhan, President of Future University in Egypt (FUE), and Dr. Hanan Refaat, Dean of International Affairs at FUE, the discussion explored new opportunities for academic and research collaboration between Egypt and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Ashour highlighted Egypt’s continued expansion and internationalization of higher education, from establishing new universities to developing international branch campuses and joint degree programmes, all aimed at preparing graduates for a rapidly evolving global market.

Prof. Stuart Jones and Dr. Assem El Baghdady reaffirmed King’s College London’s commitment to collaborating with Egyptian universities, promoting transnational education, and advancing research that supports national development and youth empowerment.

In line with MEAPP’s objective to advance Pharmaceutical Medicine in the Middle East, MEAPP is pleased to contribute to the annual Community Services Festival held at on 30th of April 2024.
Dr Assem El baghdady, MEAPP’S President, was honoured to be invited by the Faculty of Pharmacy as the keynote speaker giving an introductory session about the Pharmaceutical Medicine Discipline.
The session was well received by the students & staff with plenty of questions during & after the session.

In line with MEAPP’s mission to raise awareness of Pharmaceutical Medicine speciality in the Middle East, MEAPP succeeded to conclude a joint cooperation agreement with the National Research Centre (NRC) in Egypt.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between MEAPP, represented by Prof. Dr. Assem el-Baghdady – MEAPP’s President, and NRC represented by Prof. Dr. Hussein Darwish, Acting Head of NRC, in the presence of Mr. Mark Howard, the director of the British Council in Egypt and Prof.Dr.Mamdouh Moawad, NRC Vice President for Scientific and Research Affairs. The MOU aims to develop scientific and technical cooperation and foster relations between the two sides,

In a kind gesture, Prof. Dr. Hussein Darwish handed the NRC’s shield to Prof. Dr. Assem el-Baghdady after signing the memorandum.

We’re excited to announce that our collaborative project, “A Capacity Building Program for Enhancing Clinical Research and Medicine Development in Egypt,” has been awarded a grant from the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships program!

Going Global Partnerships supports universities, colleges and wider education stakeholders around the world to work together towards stronger, equitable, inclusive, more internationally connected higher education, science and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Reform Programme (TVET).

This partnership between King’s College London, Future University in Egypt, and MEAPP as an associate partner is a major step toward stronger transnational education.

The election has been reviewed and ratified at the latest RCP council, in recognition of Dr. el-Baghdady’s important contribution to the medical profession.
