Al-Shaimaa F. Ahmed, BPharm (Hons), MSc, PhD
Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Minia University
Dr. Al-Shaimaa F. Ahmed has over 22 years of experience in pharmaceutical research, academic leadership, and professional development. She earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Calgary, Canada, and currently serves as a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Minia University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ahmed has held pivotal leadership roles, including Director for the Training Unit for the mandatory Pharmacy training year and Assistant Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit. Her international profile includes work as a visiting professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and receiving multiple International Publication Awards for her research in pharmacology and molecular medicine.
Dr. Ahmed is a dedicated advocate for career readiness and professional networking, serving at the University Centre for Career Development (UCCD). She is an active member of the Arab Women in Science platform, where she engages in high-level networking to empower women in the scientific community. She recently joined the Middle East Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (MESPET), which aims to overcome barriers to pharmacology and experimental therapeutics research and education in the Middle East and North Africa. Moreover, her commitment to mentorship is evidenced by her role as a mentor on the “Egypt Scholar” platform and her long-standing supervision of the Egyptian Pharmacy Students’ Federation (EPSF).
As an active member of the global scientific community, she serves as a reviewer and editor for prestigious journals such as Life Sciences, International Immunopharmacology, European Journal of Neuroscience, Scientific Reports, and Frontiers in Physiology. Her community-building expertise is further highlighted by her past leadership as President of the Egyptian Students’ Association in Calgary.
